Wyoming Debate is excited to announce two new coaches joining the team! Brent Lamb and Lawrence Zhou will both be working with us for the next two years as graduate student coaches in the Department of Communication and Journalism.
Brent Lamb has been a Poke for the last four years. As a debater at UW, he qualified to the NDT multiple times and was in the elimination rounds of the Cross Examination Debate Association national championship -- multiple times! Our younger debaters will tell you they already know Brent will be a great coach, because he coached them during the Wyo Online college tournament. Brent is one of the only true rivals UW Director of Debate Matt Liu has ever encountered in terms of length of post-round feedback. All our debaters are incredibly excited to hear Brent's post-practice debate thoughts over the next few years. Welcome back Brent! Lawrence Zhou debated for the University of Oklahoma where he reached the octo-finals of the Cross Examination Debate Association national championship. He's coached truly excellent teams at The Harker School and elsewhere. In high school, he won the 2014 NSDA National Championship in Lincoln-Douglas debate. He is the both the the Co-Director of Lincoln-Douglas Debate and the Director of Publishing at the Victory Briefs Institute, and spent the last year as a League Director for the National High School Debate League of China. He's a phenomenal debate thinker and we're lucky to have him! Go Pokes!
